Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis affecting more than 30% of Malaysians. This progressive joint disease is caused by the inability of the damaged joints to self-repair and typically affects the knee. Although it can occur without any apparent cause, there are some risk factors that can potentially increase the chance of osteoarthritis like obesity, gender, age, congenital defects and joint injury or overuse.
